  1. Seems like an accurate persona for an off-road enthusiast. I wonder if the USFS-Black Hills NF permit data base (those that purchase off-road permits) would fit you identified age grouping (30 to 55). Just curious. Probably so, but seems there could be a growing group of retirees that may be engaging 🙂

  2. An additional comment…the USFS does a random survey of visitors to national forests about every 5 years. The “data collectors” sit on roads in the forests and query visitors what they’re doing (fishing, hiking, OHVing, photography, etc.). They get data on age, gender, how much $ spent pursuing their outdoor activity on the national forest. Some companies (like some acquaintances in Custer) rent out ATVs (like RAZRs) to ride the Forest. The info is used by the USFS to develop programs to serve people and care for the national forest land they’re visiting.
